Clan mates, facing the Arachne Swarm can be challenging due to their multiple initial attacks and layered spider units. The following guide explains an effective approach to maximize your chances of success while minimizing losses.
 

1. Layer Your Troops (The “Shield Method”)
 

The Arachne Swarm tends to strike the troops with the highest health first, which can wipe out your damage dealers if they’re exposed. To counter this:

• Frontline: Place high-health, lower-damage units at the front to absorb attacks.
• Backline: Position your strongest damage-dealing mercenaries behind these layers so they can attack safely.
  
  Benefit: This method allows your high-damage units to survive the initial eight counterattacks while continuously dealing damage.

2. Pick Your Targets Wisely

• Focus on eliminating smaller enemy spider groups first (like those with 4–6 units).
• Reducing weaker clusters early prevents the swarm from overwhelming your army and allows your forces to concentrate on larger spider groups afterward.

3. Attack in Multiple Waves
 

Instead of launching one massive attack:

• Use several smaller attacks to maintain momentum and steadily build valor points.
• This approach conserves troops and allows you to gain experience for multiple captains simultaneously.

4. Optimal Captains & Hero Selection
 

When battling the swarm:

• Lead Captain: Choose a hero with overall army bonuses, such as Cleopatra, to strengthen your troops.
• Support Captains: Pair your lead with two lower-level captains to level them up faster.
• Specialized Heroes: Hercules or Minimoto can provide extra boosts in ranged attack or health, helping your army survive longer.

Tip: Using three captains at once maximizes experience gain and ensures new captains level up efficiently.

5. Prioritize Specialized Mercenaries

• Certain mercenary units perform better against the swarm due to high damage or special abilities.
• Consider sending primarily these units to maximize damage and gain higher valor rewards.
• While this strategy is troop-intensive, it is especially effective during high-reward events like the Triumphal Challenge.

6. Activate Buffs Before Attacking

• Turn on all army-wide buffs, such as strength and health enhancements.
• Buffs significantly improve your survivability and allow your damage dealers to last longer through the swarm’s initial attacks.
